Jan has been a student of yoga since 1974 and has been teaching yoga since 1980. She is registered with Yoga Alliance at the highest level (E-RYT 500 and YACEP).
She first trained in the Sivananda Yoga lineage (Raja/Hatha Yoga).
Indra Deva, B.K.S. Iyengar's first female student, helped Jan develop as a teacher. Over the years, Jan has studied with Erich Schiffmann, author of Moving Into Stillness, and John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga.
Meditation is an integral part of Jan's practice and her classes. She has been a student of meditation teacher and author Sally Kempton since Sally left her order in the early 2000s
Jan’s intention is to create a personalized yoga practice for each student in a supportive, loving, non-judgemental atmosphere.
Jan works with students to improve posture and stay safe from injury through good alignment. She incorporates the Universal Principles of Alignment, which she learned from John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga, and other techniques developed through decades of personal practice and teaching.
